The next big day in the Christian calendar after Easter is pentecost. This commemorates the activation of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the believers of Jesus and followers of the Way.
AI is a big buzz right now and it is unbelievable all the things an artificial intelligence can do, understand, build, and create. From cleaning my floors to suggesting words in my text messages to performing surgery and driving cars, AI is everywhere and doing some scary cool things.
But we need to understand, AI is still AI - artificial. It’s manmade by design. And that is the way in which much of our lives is played out. We use logic, reason, thought, and energy to function. Our reactions to the world by default are manmade. And when it comes to living a life of greater consequence, living by our own rules, in our own strength, and by our own intelligence, it flat out stupid.
Jesus commands his disciples and gives them some final words we read in:
Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Peter went from Artificial intelligence to Anointed Intelligence (over the course of 3 years - not instantaneously).
He was a good Jewish boy who knew the laws and regulations of Torah. He knew the stories of Moses and Abraham who were key leaders of the Israelite people and instrumental in the story of God’s people.
And he, was a fisherman. Jesus called him to make a change. “Come follow me…and I’ll show you how to fish for people.” Peter followed Jesus.
This began a journey but he was still living under human effort and understanding. Then, the day of pentecost came and the holy spirit filled the room and settled on the disciples, including Peter.
Peter - powered by the holy spirit, spoke to the crowd and about 3000 were added to the number of followers, as they responded by repenting and being baptized..
This was a shift for Peter, and it started at the Sea where it all began. The Sea of Galilee was where Jesus first called and it was the place where Jesus met with Peter again following the resurrection. This time the call not to fish but to shepherd. And the key theme was LOVE.
Passion, determination, bravery, order, zeal, discipline, strength, defense, tenacity, are important qualities and it takes them to be a fisherman AND a shepherd. But when it comes to shepherding versus fishing, there’s a big difference. LOVE. This supersedes them all.
The calling on Peter’s life was to let the Holy Spirit transform him with an acceptance and understanding of the LOVE of GOD. This was the call from the beginning but it was a process to get to this place.
The power of the holy spirit make the biggest difference.
Are you living on your power? Are there things in your life that you’ve tried to fix, worked to change, hope would be different but they have stayed the same?
Time to give the Holy Spirit access! Time to live in the world of AI - anointed intelligence!
