SEE Part 4

S.E.E. - speak. empower. engage.

To FULLY live the Victorious Life, we must SEE like Jesus.

And as we do, our ability to S.E.E. in this way, changes every part of our lives. We find that God SPEAKS to EMPOWER His people in order to ENGAGE the world.

We know that Jesus uses instruments of human reality to call people to faith in him and draw people into relationship with God.

And we should live into our REAL IDENTITY. Time to stop being defined by what you DO, what you’ve DONE, what’s been DONE TO YOU!

This week I want to take you on a trip to the four corners of the earth.

Matt 9:22-26

18 While he was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before him and said, “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live.” 19 Jesus got up and went with him, and so did his disciples. 20 Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. 21 She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.” 22 Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment.

This woman was in a state of suffering that completely RULED her life. 12 years. In a COViD mask. Her condition left her broke, lonely, and hopeless. She was publicly humiliated, intimately abandoned, and religiously outcast. For 9-10 years, she’s been dealing with this on her own, spending everything she had and who knows what she was exposed to in the process.

Finally, out of sheer desperation, she heard of Jesus and thought this is the last resort. She put ALL her eggs into this basket and went all in on seeking Jesus for healing. She was so convinced that she declared all she needed to do was touch the edge, the fringe, the tassel of his clothes.

These tassels were Hebrew religious articles and were installed in the Mosaic law in Deuteronomy. Men were to wear them on the four corners of their garment, called a tzitzit, which would serve as a reminder to follow God and keep God’s commandments (the mitzvoth).

Her issue represents her life wasting away - empty, lonely, helpless, and without hope. The timeline represents that this RULED her life. (12 is the biblical number for perfect rule and governmental authority.)

The four corners of the garment represent God’s presence and law reaching to the ends of the earth and his salvation spanning the entire globe. (Psalm 74:17; Revelation 7:1). These references of the four corners of the earth are a way to speak about encompassing the whole earth.

Coming in contact with this, putting one’s faith in the one who holds this, brings healing and restoration perfectly and completely. This is for everyone, everywhere. Whether you touch it or it touches you, transformation is available but it requires your faith, your desperation, your willingness to be vulnerable, and effort to seek it out. In our series, S.E.E. there are three things I want to point out that Jesus saw in this woman.

Jesus saw around her UNCLEANLINESS

Jesus saw through her LONELINESS

Jesus saw into her FAITHFULNESS

And he got close to her anyway!

Take heart today - Jesus SEES you. Would you put your faith in him? Do you need to renew it in him?
