AI - Anointed Intelligence Part 5

Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

I’m really enjoying this contrast series of artificial intelligence vs anointed intelligence and believe that the Holy Spirit is ready to fill you with power to do great things in and through you.

Artificial Intelligence says anger is a right!

Anointed Intelligence says anger is to be righteous!

That’s where we’re at today. But what’s that mean. I think we can all agree that the vast majority of the time, any emotional reaction out of anger is anything but righteous.

Christians tend to go to a favorite passage of scripture to say that even Jesus got angry. This is Matt 14 where he comes into the temple and turns over the tables of the money changers. And it’s easy to see why they use that as an example and justification for their own anger with certain things of the world.

We need to understand two things:

It’s Jesus. So, this very human emotion and seemingly violent reaction from Jesus is NOT a license to get sideways when we don’t like the way people are acting. Jesus never did anything inconsequentially or unintentionally. And, it’s still Jesus. The fully divine who is also fully human isn’t flying off the handle losing self control. This wasn’t the first time he’d seen this. He didn’t walk in and freak out in total shock. He knew what was going on AND he knew what he was doing.

Turning over the tables is the same word for what a plow does to the ground. This gives an agricultural picture of preparing the ground for planting, for growth, for new life, for fruit, NOT an angry Hulk-smash just to put a stop to something using brutal force. Jesus never did anything that way so why would this be any different.

James 1:19-20 teaches us to be slow to become angry…because human anger does not produce the righteousness of God. God’s righteous anger seems to be less of an emotional reaction and more of a passionate overturning of the hardness of the situation for the sake of preparing for new life.

So, while anger is a competely natural emotion and very common feeling and even a God given part of being human, it is NOT a license to kill. Scripture teaches us to be self-controlled and do our best to live at peace with everyone as much as it depends on us.

I do a much better job of handling hard situations with my boys when I am NOT trying to establish dominance and force control. When I screw up, it is out of uncontrolled emotional reaction instead of intentional crop producing response.

So, go ahead and be angry. It’s normal. But, in your anger, DO NOT SIN. And don’t let the sun go down while you’re still angry. Don’t allow the enemy to have a place to stand in your anger and cause havoc. (Eph 4:26-27 - my paraphrase).
